7 Reasons Why You Should Visit Disney Springs

Updated: Feb 4

So, it’s February. Which means spring break is on the horizon and many of you will be heading south for warmer climates. Many of you will also be visiting the ‘Happiest Place on Earth.’ But if you’re not looking to drop $500 before 9 AM, look no further.

Disney Springs is an outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex at the Walt Disney Resort in Bay Lake, Florida (10-min from Walt Disney World). Admission and parking are FREE - no matter if you’re visiting for 5-minutes or 5-hours. And whether you’re in the mood to shop, dine, or take flight on a tethered air balloon, there's always something new to explore at Disney Springs.

Ready to learn more? Keep reading for my TOP seven reasons why you should visit Disney Springs during your next Orlando family vacation.

1. FREE admission AND parking

OK, let’s be real. Disney World is magical at age, but with an admission charge of $109 per person plus $20-50 in parking (not counting all the food, souvenirs, experiences, etc.), it can get expensive in a hurry. So when you can enjoy the magic of Disney at no cost, that my friends is a win.

2. Shopping

With over 100 stores at Disney Springs you'd need a full day just to explore all of the shops! From classic Disney merchandise to some of the world's most popular brands, like Kate Spade, Anthropologie, and Under Armour - there's something for everyone.

3. Kids Experiences

In true Disney fashion, there is no shortage of fun around every corner at Disney Springs. Your little ones can Build-A-Dino or search for dinosaur bones beneath the gravel at T-Rex, play in a sea of Legos and admire the impressive, larger than life character displays at the LEGO store, or if sharing a hug and snapping a pic with the 7-foot tall Coca Cola Polar Bear is on their bucket list, they can do that too!!

And for the ultimate heart-melting experience, bring your young prince or princess to Bippity Boppity Boutique, an enchanted beauty salon that offers magical makeovers.

There your little one will enjoy a royal head-to-toe transformation: hair, nails, costumes, shoes, glitter, and MORE glitter. And although you can expect this to put a nice dent in your wallet, the unforgettable memories make it worthwhile!

** pro-tip: if you're hoping to have your little prince or princess visit the Boutique, be sure to make reservations well in advance (up to 180-days ahead).

4. Restaurants

The places to eat at Disney Springs (like the shopping), are plentiful and range from high energy family-friendly chains to fine dining for a special night out. A with over 60 dining options there's something sure to please the pickiest of eaters.

Our favorites? When dining with kids our top picks are the Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex. Your little ones will be thoroughly entertained with the sights and sounds of the themed experience. As for a couples night out, our go-to is Paddlefish, a modern steamboat on Lake Buena Vista serving fresh seafood and steaks. And let's not forget about dessert, a visit to Sprinkles, the world's first cupcake bakery is a must!

5. Entertainment

Where else can you throw a strike at a bowling alley, view the latest box office hits, and enjoy live concerts - all in the SAME place? None other but Disney Springs! Day or night, winter or summer, Disney Springs is always a lively scene.

6. Activities at Disney Springs

From hopping a lift on the Marketplace Carousel and Train Express, to cruising around Lake Buena Vista on a water taxi, the activities at Disney Springs are endless.

And for the thrill seeker in the family, catch a bird's eye view as you ascend over 400-feet in the air on the world’s largest tethered helium balloon, Aerophile.

7. And last but not least, Disney stores

This earns its own bullet point because with over 15 Disney-themed stores from Disney's Days of Christmas to Goofy's Candy Company, you'll find endless ways to get your Disney merchandise fix. This list also includes the WORLD'S LARGEST World of Disney Store. Measuring in at over 5,500 square feet I recommend you stick together because you could get lost!

Like ALL Disney destinations, Disney Springs is a special place where you can create magical memories with those you love the most. If you’re looking for a fun and entertaining day in Orlando that the whole family will enjoy (without breaking the bank!), Disney Springs is definitely worth your time.

Have you been to Disney Springs? What was your favorite part?
