3 Days at Reunion Resort: The Perfect Family Vacation Itinerary

Why Reunion Resort is a family-friendly option

Have you ever vacationed to central Florida with your kids and NOT visited Disney? Better yet, have you ever been on a family vacation and never stepped foot off the resort? At Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Florida not only are both are these possible, but recommended!

Given the appeal of Disney World, Central Florida is certainly a popular family vacation spot. However, you may not be familiar with this family-friendly, sophisticated alternative. If this is you, here are some things worth knowing:

  • Location + Safety: Conveniently located and sprawling in size, Reunion Resort sits upon 2,300 beautiful acres within a gated community.

  • Accommodations: Choose from one, two, or three-bedroom luxury villas. All rooms come standard with a master suite and private bath, fully equipped kitchen, balcony/patio, and separate dining and living areas. Many of the vacation home rentals also offer a private swimming pool, game room, personal butler, home theater, and more! Our 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom villa measured over 1,200 square feet and had a separate kitchen, living/dining area, and patio with golf course views.

  • Dining: Reunion Resort offers six onsite restaurants, ranging from casual poolside snacks to dinner with stunning golf course views. (**Side note: We preferred eating breakfast in our room given the full kitchen, as a means to cut costs and also for the sake of convenience.)

  • Activities: With 10 community pools, a water park, foot golf, bike rentals, tennis, two fitness centers, a spa, shopping, and a kids club – you’ll need more than 3-days to fully experience everything Reunion Resort has to offer.

  • Transportation: Whether you prefer walking, renting a bike, exploring by golf cart, or hopping a ride on the complimentary shuttle, Reunion makes navigating the resort fun and easy!

  • Customer Service: Traveling with young kids can often present a unique sets of challenges and stressors, but at Reunion we felt well taken care of and never out of place. Time and time again, the staff went out of their way to make sure our needs were met and kids happy.

  • The Future: If you thought everything mentioned above sounded too good to be true, hold on, because Reunion has BIG plans for its’ future. These plans include a 10-acre lagoon with water sport activities, expansion of the Water Park (hello surf and wave pools!), mini golf, an amphitheater, indoor movie theater, and so much more!

3-day Reunion Resort Suggested Itinerary

As stated above, you would need more than three days to see and do everything Reunion has to offer, so here I have listed my personal favorites.

My suggestion: choosing one ‘main’ activity for each day that way you’re getting a good balance of fun AND rest!

Day 1: The Water Park + Traditions

Late morning – Mid afternoon : The Water Park

What a better way to kick off your family vacation than at the Water Park! You can plan to spend several hours navigating the 5-acre aquatic attraction so be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and pool gear. (Towels, life jackets, umbrellas, and chairs are free of charge.)

**Pro-tip: The sun is hottest in the south from 2-5 pm so we prefer to partake in our outdoor activities before it gets too hot.

With the exception of one water slide, the majority of the water features are suitable for kids of all ages. From a relaxing ride down the lazy river, to dodging water sprays, or playing a friendly game of water volleyball, it’s easy to see why the Water Park at Reunion is a family favorite. Adjacent to the pool area you’ll find outdoor board and lawn games, and even a large sandy area.

All that fun got you hungry? Frozen drinks, smoothies, fresh salads, sandwiches, and kids meals are available to order from the Tiki Bar or chaise-side service.

Evening: Traditions

Reunion Resort is also home to three world-class golf courses, and Traditions, located at the Nicklaus clubhouse, is the resorts newest restaurant. If weather permits, I recommend choosing a table on the outdoor patio so you can enjoy golf course views while you indulge in the seasonal farm-to-table selections. And if your little ones get antsy while waiting for their meals, a large putting green is located just steps away.

Day 2 : Spa, Golf, Camp Reunion, Bike Rentals, and The Clubhouse

Morning: Spa / Golf + Camp Reunion

If you’re a fellow exercise enthusiast, you’re in luck! Start your day with either a walk or run around the property, a game of tennis, or by hitting the weights at one of the two fitness centers.

From there, mom and dad can either spend some time together while the kids play at Camp Reunion, or they can part ways while mom relaxes at the Spa and dad practices his golf game on the links.

** Camp Reunion offers half and full day programs for children ages 4-12. During camp, kids have the opportunity to play outdoor games, visit the Water Park, and participate in arts and crafts.

Afternoon: Bike Rentals

Whether you chose to take advantage of a half or full day at Camp Reunion, be sure to pick up your kids before 4 pm and enjoy a family quadricyle ride. Available for rent from the Water Park Front Desk, these 4-wheeled pedal bikes are a fun way to explore the vast property.

Evening: The Clubhouse

After a day filled with equal parts relaxation and fun in the sun, head over to the Clubhouse for a casual, yet satisfying meal. Similar to Traditions, I always recommend sitting outdoors when dining with kids. And plus, in a place where you can dine overlooking gorgeous greens and Florida palm trees, why not?!

Whether you’re craving traditional comfort food or fresh, regionally-inspired cuisine, the Clubhouse appeals to young and old alike.

Day 3: Starbucks, Shopping, and The Cove at Seven Eagles

Morning: Starbucks + shopping

Need a morning pick-me-up? Take a shuttle or short golf cart ride to the main hotel (Reunion Grande) to satisfy your coffee fix. Located within a small gift shop, enjoy your Starbucks of choice while you browse the unique and vast selection of merchandise. From Florida wallets and handbags, to stuffed animals, and Disney memorabilia – you’re sure to find a unique memento to remember your stay at Reunion.

Afternoon: The Cove at Seven Eagles

Head across the street to spend your final day lounging poolside at Reunion’s largest community pool and hub for family fun, The Cove at Seven Eagles. Take a dip in the heated pool, relax in one of the two jacuzzi hot tubs, or play a game of bocce ball. At Seven Eagles you will also find The Cove, a poolside bar and grill as well as outdoor billiards, ping pong, and the main fitness center.

** Pro-tip: Like all other community pools at Reunion, towels are not provided. Also, every Saturday from 2-5 pm they offer drink specials, free chips & salsa, and live entertainment.

So there you have it – everything you need to know about vacationing to Reunion Resort with your family. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and enjoyed the convenience of not having to leave the resort property. Whether you chose to bounce from one activity to the next, or simply lounge poolside, at Reunion they strive to make your stay memorable.

Have you ever visited Reunion? What was your favorite part?

XO, Steph
